July 23, 2009

When we’re not saving the world….we spend our weekends doing things to entertain ourselves…like happy hour & going out for yummy food & bowling.

This week we went to Akakiko a Japanese restaurant chain here in Vienna, Some people said it was going to be bad but it turned out delicious!!!

Welcome!

I was a little stressed that MAYBE I reserved at the wrong restaurant, but we basically took over that too (well at least one floor), the downtown location is big with four floors! It was nice to see a big turnout to the intern dinner!

The next day (Saturday) was the bowling night – not as fun as cosmic bowl in Canada but still fun!

Cosmic Bowling is also located at Prater…I wanted to do this night to break away from the usual club scene we have, it was a mild night and fun! The girls totally kicked the guys asses at bowling! heee heee…..but no worries as Michele quotes “He is usually better” and to quote some others “it must be the lanes” or “I’m just out of practice…” suuuuuuuuuure xo.

On our way home, we ran into a guy dressed like a cell phone. You know…typical ride on the ubahn….Here in Vienna it is tradition if your going to get married not to have a bachelor/bachelorette but instead to dress up and parade around with your friends either gathering signatures or selling useless items. For example, after the sushi dinner there was a bride walking around with her parade selling candy and mini cacti from something that resembled an employee in a stadium selling peanuts. You know like “step right up” get your peanuts, but more like weeeeeeeee i’m getting married by a “marriage chocolate bar” or a cacti. This narrative currently makes me visualize this for some reason:

step right up!

step right up!

Anyways, so the guy was dressed like a cell phone, and as soon as we got on the ubahn we got swarmed. They wanted us to write our numbers on him, “just in case the marriage doesn’t work out” or something like that! lol silly Austrians! It was funny and a little random:

Michele signed him too for fun! They thought he was gay, and naturally we thought it was hilarious too. lol

what an eventful weekend xoxo

Chocoballs!

July 16, 2009

So last weekend I was sick, all I did was sleep for five days straight. One night I had “cabin fever.” Michele had a few people over for a bbq. This is how I got introduced to a cereal called “Chocoballs,”  which last Saturday i found at a biostore….to my surprise!

Anyways, whenever i’m sad I look at this picture:

what a goof!

IT MAKES ME SO HAPPY! Michele is such a character – I am so glad we met. He always knows how to take away my bad vibes and make me smile <3 Michele is the happiest guy i know, and he says its all thanks to the “chocoballs” he eats in the morning…hahahahaha.  My office husband lots of kisses go out to you xx.

In addition to chocoballs, he also had jumbo sized peanuts. There was just a whole lotta nuts and balls at that bbq – but who am I to complain about that ;) Bruno would have been in heaven…

Also – it was refreshing to meet some new faces at his place. I was introduced to a website called couchsurfing.com a platform for travellers and open minded people to meet. The idea is that if you have a couch and are open to someone sleeping on it, they “surf” your couch, its also a great way to find accommodations while travelling. For more paranoid people (like me) you can just put “coffee” which means you are open to show someone around your city. I’ve joined…but need to explore the site more.
