Do you know the M Building? It’s the newest installement to the Vienna International Centre. Well it just open a few months ago, and my first impression of it was surreal.
At first, I thought it to be very minimal. The colour scheme is white and blue, but a clean hospital type white. My first reaction was: “It’s like a limbo between heaven and hell. Like a waiting room for the recently dead where you decide whether you will go up or down.”
There is an elevator in it, with blue lights….I call it “the elevator to heaven”
elevator to heaven
and again..
Anyways I find the building so peculiar, but I like it at the same time. The more and more I went into it, the more I liked it. But I think I’ve experienced it seen something like it before. oh wait yes….
You know the M building? ok fine.
You know lady Gaga? BAD ROMANCE!
So Christmas Eve the day came when most of the UN was on holiday yet we had to work. My fellow intern friend and I took full advantage and took some lady gaga inspired pictures.
Ahhhhhh the M building reminiscent of a minimalist 1990s art exhibit but with huge moden reference to the lady gaga bad romance video!

MORE BAD ROMANCE STILLS:
With this video in mind….My intern collegue and I took to the M building with our free time and took some GAGA inspired pics….here are some stills we came up with…
A week before Christmas comes my favourite thing about Christmas….decorating the tree! Luana came over to help, but first we needed to get into our Xmas tree decorating outfits…
we're ready!
While decorating we looked through all the decorations my parents kept from christmas past…..there were some new ones from this year, and from each year…ahhhhh yes christmas is all about “junk” but beautiful junk. Here are our favourite ornaments that best represents Christmas in the 1970s…
mushroom ornaments
The tree turned out pretty….so did the rest of the apartment:
Christmas Tree 2009
At least this year my decorations didn’t get removed and put into the back. Unlike last year where my stupid roommate and her mom took the decorations off the tree I bought – I shall never forget the rudeness!! pffffffffff this year the tree was untainted.
and what better way to celebrate then to make reference to LADY GAGA by doing the gaga pose
The aftermath: SANTA CAME!!! even to Vienna! yeeeeee xmas!
Vienna Christmas 2009
my whole family was really happy to see all the presents, but my Cat Chanel showed the most enthusiasm as she hid within the presents….what a character that Chanel the lion cat!
Chanel hearts Christmas!
and another Christmas has come to an end..there was presents, and family, and TURKEY, and relaxing and TURKEY leftovers and of course a little partying on the side, because you can’t leave DANCING out of a vacation. Now I am back at work until New Years which will be the next big celebration! My last new years in Vienna.
Then off to Rome for an Italian adventure <3 I hope everyone is having a great holiday season!!!
Just an hour outside Vienna there is a castle called Grafenegg, for four days the first week of December they host a Christmas Market.
My parents wanted to go so we also brought Luana & Brian for the family outing. How cute!
Christmas Road Trip! Grafenegg Castle
<3
Grafenegg Castle
me, brian&luana
Like all Christmas markets there were punsch stands and food stands, but this one was different cause it was in the courtyard of the castle…
snacks!
..inside there was many high class expensive crafts to buy. I only bought one thing (a disco angel). Which now sits in my office to bring me joy:
DISCO ANGEL!
While there was not that much decor, mostly just craft booths and things on sale, some rooms were left untouched and beautiful. Here are some flicks from inside the castle..
The chaple area was quite pretty, very picture worthy.
Brian & my dad had fun posing in the library room…

Outside the castle and surrounding area the festivities continued. There was open fires, snack huts, and lots of lights. We stopped to warm up by the fire…Also there was some random decor that featured apples dangling, and some of them already had bites in them! weird but funny.

of course posing had to be done...

After strolling around we went to a Christmas Concert in the concerthalle (also on the castle grounds). I expected the concert to be super boring classical music, but it turned out to be this rock n roll live big band american type concert. It was awesome!! RocknRoll Christmas with bass, electric guitar, drums, saxophone, and piano…very entertaining, and very american. When we left it was dark…
oh and how could I forget!! the random LAMAS which you could pet & walk!!! hahahahaha I have no idea what the significance of those were but Luana & I couldn’t get enough
lamas!
we <3 lamas

bye Grafenegg….I will really miss Christmas Markets when I move back to Canada.
The tree that sits in the middle of the rotunda, a little meager, but better than nothing. THANKS CITY OF VIENNA for sending the UN the best charlie brown christmas tree I ever did see…
…here is my enthousiasm
christmas is approaching!
and as the Christmas tree appeared at the UN, it was a sad day to see one of my best friends here, Mandy leave…but a department is not complete without an intern picture…
classic photo take 1
classic pic take 2
and soon this group of interns will go….this is group 3 or 4 i’ve seen come and go now. ohhhhhhhh I have been here a while! It’s almost been a year now!
Chanel got her make over again….here is a before picture
Chanel - before
and then she was transformed, from Chanel the Cat – to Chanel the Lion Cat!
CHANEL - after
some people might say this is mean or cruel – it is not! she might not like the process but after she is sooo happy not to have long clumpy hair she feels free:
look how happy she is
ahhhh the animals are great entertainment & great company too…
clueless dog.
Chanel (the lion cat), Sunny (pictured above), and Lenny (newest addition) are quite the group….the second generation of pets i have. yes I am a loser for making a post about them….but they are funny…I also enjoy singing to my cat and video taping it
before the plastic winter wonderland BURNED DOWN in Museums Quartiers…it was funtimes!! I went sometime in November with Luana. Winter in Vienna is quite fun. It is customary to have outdoor venues where they serve gluwein and punsch! You have to pay extra for the mug which you can get your money back when you return it, OR you can keep it
Museums Quartier is a trendy hangout for artsy types and is really fun to hang for a nice low key night out! All winter season they have a program called Winter im MQ. I don’t know whats coming up, all i know is when we went it was beautiful, they really know how to create a winter atmosphere in vienna!
snowflakes projected on leapold museum
outside winter wonderland
As you can see the little hut is made out of plastic…a few weeks later it burned down! My friend Mandy saw the aftermath, it turned into a huge mound of plastic with things sticking out! Winter im MQ still goes on…without the wonderland hut! <3
Some visuals of the projection of snowflakes – i love it!
It is not winter until you officially have PUNSCH! they have many flavours berry, apple/orange, gluwein.
What is punsch? It’s like hot apple cider, but its alcoholic and comes in many flavours. Theres nothing like getting warm with it….Punsch is served almost in every corner now…it’s awesome!
So she threw a party! It was awesome….I love parties when there is a dance crew! There was also cake and funtimes….I especially like the fact that my lady gaga accessories from Halloween got some use. ahhhhh it was a lovely day indeed, and a great excuse to dress up.
I still Cannot believe Mandy’s last day is today She was such a great friend at the UN. Luana & Brian will continue to stay which is awesome cause they have gotten to be great friends too <3
Some flicks from the party…HAPPY BDAY LUANA! The party was brilliant…drunk friends and lots of laughs and of course lots of posing for the camera
Beautiful Cakes Mandy made for Luana.....wonderful breakfast the next day!
Me, Luana, & Mandy...<3 these girls!

dancing crew!!!
I love to DANCE! Need more of it in my life! That is why for Mandy’s going away we are going to have a night out @ the ROXY! yessssssssssss can’t wait <3
I love how when I tell my Mom I’m going on a date and I won’t be home until tomorrow – this is fine. It should be now though since I AM an adult. Very cool!!!
HOWEVER – The fact I am NOT wearing a dress is the problematic issue apparently. I love getting stopped at the door when I’m about to leave the house for a hawt date and being told i should wear a dress! LOL I love my parents sometimes for being old fashioned!
